Break Me Down
By: Faith McCauley

He sees me
Crying
Ashamed
He turns his head

They mock me
As if to break me
To burry me
Alive

They stare
As if to see through me
To make me
Disappear

They laugh
As if to make me
Seem worthless
Maybe lose my voice

They shove me
As if to be
On top
Of the world

He sees me
Crying
Ashamed
I’m not strong

S-  The subject of this poem is the lengths people go to, to try and break me

O-  The occasion in this poem is someone thinking about their life and what everyone around them is doing to them.

A-  The audience is people like me who are hurting and who have to deal with others putting them down on a daily basis.

P-  The purpose is to show the one I love that I’m not strong, but he shouldn’t turn and look the other way.  Instead, he should stand by my during the hard times in my life and that he should love me no matter what.

S-  I am the speaker.

Tone-  The tone is betrayed, broken, and weak.

The Day of Silence

25 04 2008

Yesterday, I participated in the Day of Silence, and to tell you the truth, I didn’t expect half of the support that my high school’s GSA received.  I, myself, am bisexual, and I deal with discrimination everyday.  No one really accepts the GLBT community for who they are.  We’re reffered to as, “fags,” and people say that it’s not right all the time.  It’s not our choice of who we love and who we don’t.  We cannot control our feelings, and when boys find out that I like girls, they are only interested in that part of me.  In the type of society we live in, I just have to sit back and take it, and I used yesterday as a way to prove that I’m me.  I sat back and observed.  Boys at school were mainly excited about all of the newly found lesbians because they like their, “lesbian action.”  There’s more to it though.  Through my experiences I learned how important an opinion is.  I learned that you should never hold your thoughts in, and you shouldn’t care what people say or do.  You’re you and nothing can change that.
