Yesterday, I participated in the Day of Silence, and to tell you the truth, I didn’t expect half of the support that my high school’s GSA received. I, myself, am bisexual, and I deal with discrimination everyday. No one really accepts the GLBT community for who they are. We’re reffered to as, “fags,” and people say that it’s not right all the time. It’s not our choice of who we love and who we don’t. We cannot control our feelings, and when boys find out that I like girls, they are only interested in that part of me. In the type of society we live in, I just have to sit back and take it, and I used yesterday as a way to prove that I’m me. I sat back and observed. Boys at school were mainly excited about all of the newly found lesbians because they like their, “lesbian action.” There’s more to it though. Through my experiences I learned how important an opinion is. I learned that you should never hold your thoughts in, and you shouldn’t care
what people say or do. You’re you and nothing can change that.
Thank you for sharing about your experience with us Faith. It looks like many people learned something from this day.
sincerely,
Ms. Matzke
your poem is sad people mocking you
